Flower Mound Area Parks & Playgrounds

There are days when even the most committed home-body needs to get out, be it down the street to the swings and slides, or a little further afield for mountain bike trails and hiking.  For those days, Flower Mound has a lot to offer; almost every neighborhood has a playground and some walking trails and most of them are for public use.  And, if the great outdoors is beckoning and swings, a slide and some monkey bars just aren't going to cut it, then there's plenty do on the shores of Lake Grapevine and Lake Lewisville!

Shopping in Flower Mound


Flower Mound pretty much has it all when it comes to shopping locally.  As you would expect from a fast-growing, desirable neighborhood on a lot of "best places to live" lists, there is pretty much something for everyone when it comes to shopping.  The relatively new retail area developed around the intersection of FM2499 (Long Prairie Road) and FM407 (Justin Road), includes the Shops at Highland Village, the Highands of Flower Mound, Highlands Ranch and Robertson's Creek shopping areas.  The major arteries of Flower Mound; FM 2499, FM 3040, FM 1171 and FM 407 all have small shopping areas at most major intersections, but for this page we will focus on flagship stores, grocery chains and a few speciality / local name stores. Each quarter of this area has it's own management, and own website, so as not to confuse you, I will list the areas and link to their sites, as well as noting their bigger stores, or the ones you are most likely to see on a drive-by.

Outside this major shopping area, there are smaller pockets of shopping and dining. Notable among them is Parker Square, a community focussed area on FM 1171 / Cross Timbers Road that often hosts concerts on the bandstand and other events.

Southlake Town Square

If you head South and West around the West side of Lake Grapevine, a mere 20 minutes drive will find you in one of the gems of the North Texas Region.  Southlake Town Square is a beautifully designed and maintained, pedestrian friendly outdoor mall.  The boutiques, restaurants, and selection of shops make for a nice afternoon or evening out, and you can even top the day off with a movie at Harkins Ciné Capri.  There's also a hotel for those out of town guests. Along with all the usual suspects, you'll find some more exclusive brands here, such as:

Grocery Shopping in Flower Mound

For the discerning grocery shopper there is much choice in Flower Mound.


  • Closest to Tour 18 will be the new Tom Thumb opening late fall 2012 at the intersection of FM1171 and Bridlewood /Bruton Orand.

  • For the natural shopper, SPROUTS, at the intersection of FM1171 and Morriss is the closest choice, at least, that is, until the new Whole Foods Market opens in 2014.

  • Kroger and Walmart make up the full selection.

  • Central Market in Southlake - heaven in a grocery store!  Huge selection of gourmet foods, prepared meals, even a cafe for lunch-on-the-go!

Churches and Places of Worship near Tour 18


Whether you like your church in a converted Albertson's, in a home or in a more traditional setting, Flower Mound has the worshipful community for you. Flower Mound has an increasingly diverse population, and the centers of worship reflect that diversity.  This page will attempt to be, if not a definitive list, a fairly comprehensive listing of the spiritual life of the Flower Mound area.

Christian Churches abound in Texas. Fittingly for the center of Evangelical Christianity that the North Texas region has become, there are no shortage of churches in Flower Mound and the surrounding area.

Non-Christian centers of worship are also available in the local area.  These also double, in many cases, as vibrant community centers for new arrivals to the area.
